(SHELBYVILLE, MO)--Gov. Jay Nixon today joined officials from Shelby County Tuesday morning, January 31, at 10:15 at the courthouse to voice his support for the proposed Flanagan South Pipeline Project by Enbridge (U.S.) Inc. The proposed pipeline, if built, would run approximately 600 miles from Flanagan, IL, to Cushing, OK, crossing 11 counties in Missouri. | Presidential Primary Election For Missouri Is Tuesday, February 7

Next Tuesday, February 7, Missouri will make the national news as they hold the state’s Presidential Primary Election. Even though much of the ballots already have several candidates that have withdrawn, or didn’t even register their name on the Missouri ballot, voting time is here. Polls in Shelby County and across the state will open at 6 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. Polling places are listed in this issue of the Courier with the four ballots voters can call for one. | Orphan Train To Be Shown Thursday

The Orphan Train documentary will be shown in the Banquet Room at Kemp’s Restaurant on Thursday, February 2nd at 2:00 p..m. and again at 6:00 p.m. There is NO CHARGE to see this documentary which is quite interesting in that the Orphan Train stopped in Clarence and some of the children were taken by couples to make their home here as their own.

Madelyn Payton Josh and Janice James of Houston, Texas, would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Madelyn Payton James. Madelyn was born November 2, 2011, at 4:17 p.m. at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She weighed 8 lbs., 16 ozs., and was 19-3/4 inches long. Grandparents include Thomas Langdon of Clarence and Micheal and Gracie James and Mary Jane Langdon of Houston. Isabelle Joy John and Lisa Russell of Monroe City are the parents of a daughter born at 1:35 p.m. on December 29, 2011, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs., 1 oz., and was named Isabelle Joy Russell. She is welcomed by a little sister, Anna. Grandparents are Wes and Barbara Russell of Shelbina, Jim and Joanne Blickley of Willow Grove, PA. Great-grandparents are Wesley and Mary Lea Russell of Shelbina, Donato and Marie Giangiulio of Abington, PA. Annalie Catherine Guy P. and Rachel Dixon of Kansas City, Kansas, are the parents of a daughter, Annalie Catherine, born January 13, 2012, at 8:48 p.m. in a Kansas City, Kansas, hospital. She weighed 6 lbs., 2 ozs., was 18-1/2 inches long. She is welcomed by a little brother, Gabriel, age 5. Paternal grandparents are Guy L. and Patricia Dixon of Marceline. Great-grandparents are the late Leon Bowen Sr. and Fern Bowen.

| Clarence State Bank Donates $5,000 To CCAC Building Demolition

Pictured above left, is Zach McLeland, Clarence City Administrator, accepting a check from Clarence State Bank President Lee Schoonover. The check was in the amount of $5,000. Schoonover presented the check to the Clarence Community Advancement Corporation for the demolition of the four downtown buildings razed recently and pictured in the background during demolition. Schoonover presented the check to help provide financial support to non-profit organizations that seek to help the people of Shelby and adjoining counties.

...The Shelby County Food Pantry located at 403 E. Maple on old highway 36 in Shelbina, will be Friday, February 3 from 9:00 to 6:00 p.m. It is the first Friday of each month. Sign-up will begin at 9 a.m. and they will be open until 6:00 p.m. For more information call 573-588-4798. ...There will be a whole hog sausage and pancake buffet Saturday, February 4, starting at 6 a.m. and continuing through the noon hour at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. This is sponsored by the Clarence United Methodist Church men. ...The Shelby County Health Department will hold a blood pressure clinic in Clarence at the Senior Citizens Center from 11 to 12 noon on Wednesday, February 8. ...The Tri-County Christian School in Macon will hold a pancake breakfast on Saturday, February 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This is sponsored by the TCCS Parent Teacher Fellowship.

Barry Lee Brown Barry Lee Brown, 58, Clarence businessman, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012, at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Barry was born on February 19, 1953, in Walnut Creek, CA, the son of Albert Edward and Frances Margaret (Wakenshaw) Brown. He was united in marriage to Linda Snow in Reno, NV, on September 20, 2002. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon. Mary Christina Wilson Mary Christina (Sutton) Wilson, 93, of Macon, MO, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. She was born February 2, 1918, in Leonard, MO, the daughter of James Clarence and Lelah Helen (Pitzer) Sutton. On March 8, 1936, she was united in marriage to Joseph Henry Wilson in Clarence. Visitation was Friday evening, January 27, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 at Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Funeral services were Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Macon Church of the Nazarene. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Macon. James T. Howe James T. Howe, 85, of Buffalo, MO, formerly of Macon, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012, at Colonial Springs Healthcare Center in Buffalo. James was born on June 22, 1926, in Macon, MO, the son of Roy and Blanche Marie (Strange) Howe. He was united in marriage to Iola M. Schneider on May 23, 1947, in Macon. She survives. Visitation was Thursday evening, January 26, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Funeral services were Friday, January 27, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in Union Cemetery, south of Bevier. Derald Butner Derald Butner, 69, of Macon, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at his home in Macon. Services are pending at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon.
